Hanse Forum Hamburg, Germany

Hoskins Architects are working with Standard Life Investments on redevelopment possibilities for their recently purchased property portfolio across Germany. The first of these projects provides a revitalised atrium and entrance space for the Hanse Forum in Hamburg: a contemporary office building completed in 2002.

Working within the constraints of the current fire strategy, our proposals emphasise the striking existing columns that define the atrium space. A canopy of light at ground floor level is created via the new circular-feature lighting, with high level fixtures creating drama and advertising the building to the wider city. Heated concrete furniture at the base of the columns create an inviting and comfortable atmosphere, providing a welcoming ‘third space’ where building users and visitors can hold impromptu meetings, or complete last minute work. Additionally, new wayfinding and lift lobbies reinforce the buildings new branding, adding another attractive layer for existing and prospective tenants.
