Thomas studied Architecture at Darmstadt University of Technology in Germany and worked in a number of German architectural practices before moving to Glasgow in 2000 to study for a Master’s degree at the University of Strathclyde. He was awarded the City of Glasgow Silver Medal for Architecture and the Glasgow Institute of Architects Student Award before joining Hoskins Architects in 2001.
Thomas has worked in the Glasgow office for 10 years on many of the practice’s high profile jobs on very sensitive sites. He has extensive skills in computer modelling and has been instrumental in developing new and innovative systems on both the design and administration side of the practice, and this lateral yet creative approach is evident in his design work.
Returning to his native Germany in 2010 with partner Gabriele, the pair set up the practice’s Berlin office and both were promoted to company directors in 2013.
